Summer is being quite nice. I’ve traveled to South Carolina, seen the beach. One of the best feeling of the year so far. I’m back home, working my ass off on the magazine. Warped tour burnt me out. Every year, warped tour is asking so much work that I use to walk away from my camera and computer for a few weeks. Which I did. I now got a lot of things to share. I’ll be back. Hopefully soon ;)

You can now found me on DEQQ, a social media for Musicians. DEQQ is a service that provides artists and broadcasters with a brandable desktop application that can deliver music, video, and games directly to their followers. I’m a DEQQuer, you should too. If you are a musician, filmmaker, broadcaster or any of the kind, check out DEQQ Website.

Flashback from the ‘90

Gavin Rossdale

Everybody that knows me well can probably guess what i’m gonna say after this line. Here I go. Last Sunday, I went to see play one of my favorite musician of all time. I use to be totally in love with this guy (and music!)  for years when I was in highschool. I kind of lost interest in his music when his band Bush went on hiatus and never really heard about him again beside that he was playing with a new band call Institute. In 2008, I had the great pleasure to re-discover him with the release of his own solo album (Wanderlust). Since then, I’ve been patiently waiting for him to come in my city. That long awaited day has finally come as Gavin played a show in Montreal at le National with opening act Suzie Mcneil. Gavin has been on a Canadian tour for a few weeks and it’s in Montreal that he ended it all.

Even if I was excited for weeks before with that show coming up, I had a feeling it was going to be a relax and quiet show. If you listen to his solo work, Gavin has really slowed down on energy, doing much more mellow songs than heavy ones. On that note, I thought nothing really big was going to happen at the show beside maybe, if we are lucky, we would get a Bush song. Well, I should have checked around the internet what the fans had to say about the show because the night was anything but mellow!

And to look at the faces around me during the first few songs, I understood that most of the people was thinking exactly like me, and has been kicked in the face by surprise, exactly like me! The first 2 songs, from Wanderlust, was played a bit more faster and on the rock side. Third songs was unexpected, really. I thought maybe if Gavin play 1 Bush song, it would be by the end of the set. We got 5 Bush songs!  he played Machinehead right at the beggining of the show,  and made the crowd go crazy in about 4 seconds. No more. It was fabulous. A pure flashback from 1998.

I can go on and on about the show, the songs, the musician. I really tells you, if he’s playing somewhere near you. Just go. The people who I’ve talk with after the show couldn’t believe how great he was on stage. And when I say great, it means GREAAAATTTTT ;)

Anyhow, to end up that beautiful evening, my friends and I took our time to wait a bit and chill around to finally see him getting out of the venu. I had the pleasure to talk with him for a few minutes and he’s been a really nice guy, all smilling and cheering with the fans. I’m very glad i got to meet one of my teenage hero :)

on a last note, I have to say that Suzie McNeil did it very well opennig for him. She played a very good mix of old and new songs and pretty enjoyed seing her in concert.

A random guy gave me the setlist after the show so here it is for you to look at the songs he played.

Setlist

And of course, I took pictures! You can see the full set by clicking on the photo below. Enjoy!

Gavin Rossdale this Sunday

I’ve been a fan of Bush in my teenage years. Now that Gavin Rossdale is back with a solo album, I am very thrilled to see what he’d become. He will be playing this Sunday at Le National in Montreal, and tickets are still available here: http://bit.ly/LSR8t Come say hi if you are around. This is going to be a nostalgic night for me. Let’s hope he’s playing 1 from his ex-band!

I also recommended to get there early to catch Suzie McNeil. She is the opening act and she’s incredible. Photos of the night will be on the magazine website shortly after the event ;)
